田原 俊一

Traditional Craftsman Shunichi Tahara

A third generation blade-sharpening craftsman with a lineage going back nearly 110 years.
Involved in the family business since 1966. Has close friendships with people in the cooking business overseas.
Worked from 2013 as an instructor in the use of Japanese kitchen knives in the Japanese Cultural Program at the University of California, Davis.

1990 Designated by the country as a certified traditional craftsman.
2005 Received the Osaka Prefecture Governor’s Award.
2006 Received the Sakai City Commerce and Industry Achievement Award.
2008 Received the Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry Director’s Award and Sakai Meister’s Certification.
2011 Certified as an Osaka Prefecture Excellent Technician (Naniwa Craftsman).
2016 Appointed as Director of the Federation of Sakai Cutlery Commerce and Industry Associations in 2016
